Diogenes 2024 at the Writers House
On September 30, the Short Film Festival “Diogenes 2024” was held at the Writers House.
The award was preceded by a photo exhibition of works by Sergei Kaski, Merab Eminashvili, Nikoloz Janjgava and Archil Toloraia.
This year’s festival is the fact that, in agreement with the Department of Rescalization and Rehabilitation of the Penitentiary Service of the Georgian Penitentiary Service, Diogenes entered the 16th facility with its competition films. A “public jury” staffed by the convicts was formed, which selected the best films and set them up for appropriate awards and diplomas.
Within the framework of the Competition Program of the Diogenes 2024 Film Festival, 718 films from different countries of the world were included, of which 94 favorite films were included in the final, or in the main competition.
The Georgian Film Academy has set a special diploma to be awarded to director Merab Chkhaidze and his film “One Day” (Georgia).
According to the decision of the International Initiative Group of the festival, honorary diplomas will be handed over to two Georgian works: “New Friends” (creative group “Anim Kom”) and “Anime Kom”) and “Anim Kom” (directed by: Archil Japaridze).

According to the decision of the public jury, the promotional prize was awarded the film Heroes. Director: Sergey Zinchuk;
The prize “Alaverdoba” was awarded the animation of The Pyramid. Director: Muhammad Gazra.
The winner of the main prize, with the decision of the public jury, became the Between Garbage and God. Director: Andy Svetinsky.
The Prize “Serenade” was awarded the film by the student jury. Director: Eve Japola.
The prize “Alaverdoba” was awarded the movie Bitter Sweetness. Director: Zaher Samir Kusaybat.
The prize “Musicians” was awarded the film Another Alice – a French experimental film. Director: Mateo La Capria.
According to the student jury, the main prize was given to the film Synonyms – Director: Philip Rudnitsky.
The prize, with the decision of the main jury of the festival, was awarded the film Train Station – Train Station. Director: Diana Gelashvili.

Diogenes 2024 International Cinema Festival of Tbilisi has been held for the fifth year and is the general financing of the Tbilisi City Hall Culture, Education, Sport and Youth Affairs. The festival was partnered with the Writers’ House of Georgia, and the permanent partner of the event is the Georgian Film Academy. The festival aims to promote and successfully promote short -term Georgian and foreign cinema.
